Job Description

Enterprise Architect - Security Architecture

  • Location: Hybrid (York or Newcastle or Warrington or Bristol or Birmingham or London, or Peterborough or Reading or Weybridge - 2 days per week)
  • Rate: £850 per day, umbrella
  • Duration: To end of March 2026 initially (ext poss)

As the "Enterprise Architect - Security Architecture", you will be responsible for ensuring the strategy is built, agreed, and followed for the domain. The role will be responsible for the Security Architecture.You will be part of the wider Strategic Architecture Team and will work to develop and produce technology direction, strategies and reuseable patterns.The role will not have direct responsibility for a budget, but you will play a significant role in influencing budget decisions. The role is essential to communicating with senior stakeholders across group, actively seeking opportunities for improvement.

  • Find and use best practice, emerging technologies, and approaches.
  • Lead and inspire architects, by helping them understand how to meet organisational goals.
  • Horizon scan for external influences or risks
  • Lead and support the successful delivery of the long-term strategy.
  • Be responsible for the overall direction of business and digital capabilities, within their domain of responsibility.
  • For Security Architecture, this role will be responsible for developing and maintaining the vision and roadmap for strategic capability or capabilities that may consist of one or more enabling business area and/or technology platforms, from identification of need, through justification of investment into delivery of specific capabilities
  • Leading and activity managing part of the strategic architecture team to provide architecture resource to business and/or technology domains.
  • Responsibility for the review and output of your team, e.g. architectural visions, roadmaps, and technical requirements.
  • Lead architectural engagements with one or more business or technology domains.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand and help to shape the strategy and vision.
  • Develop and maintain the architectural vision and roadmaps.
  • Be a key stakeholder into investment case development and Whole Life Costing for the delivery of business and IT services and change.
  • Proactively engage with Innovation colleagues to identify need and opportunities for the exploitation of emerging technologies and drive senior leaders to support business sponsorship to explore new technologies and prove value through the delivery of Proofs of Concept or Pilots.
  • Define, develop, and maintain appropriate standards and patterns for operational and technology domains to guide their use and implementation.
  • Ensure that the design of end-to-end business and IT services and changes are consistent and confirm with strategy, architectural principles and standards and are supportable, sustainable, appropriately governed and deliverable.
  • Assure the work of other colleagues and suppliers, challenging and escalating when required. Provide mentoring within teams and provide leadership by embodying architectural best practice to other architects and business stakeholders.
  • This is a senior architecture role that requires candidates that are experienced architects.
  • Guiding, writing and setting guardrails at a domain level.
  • Mentoring, training and upskilling other Architects.
  • A demonstrable ability to communicate with non-technical stakeholders/customers as well as subject matter experts and senior leaders.
