We are seeking an experienced and motivated EAL (English as an Additional Language) Specialist Learning Support Assistant to join our inclusive and diverse secondary school community in London. This is an exciting opportunity to support students whose first language is not English, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full academic potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide targeted in-class and small-group support for EAL students across a range of subjects
  • Support newly arrived pupils with induction and language acquisition
  • Work closely with teachers to adapt resources and strategies for EAL learners
  • Track and support students' progress in English language development
  • Promote inclusion, confidence, and positive engagement in learning
  • Liaise with the EAL coordinator, pastoral staff, and families where appropriate
What you'll need to succeed

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience working with EAL learners in a secondary school setting
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of language acquisition strategies
  • Be patient, adaptable, and culturally responsive
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a collaborative staff team
Desirable (but not essential):
  • Relevant qualification in EAL, linguistics, education, or teaching assistance
