As a Director of Legal & Company Secretary, you will hold a critical leadership position at the centre of the organisation. You will lead the Legal and Company Secretarial function, providing clear and commercially focused legal advice while ensuring robust governance and regulatory compliance across the business. You will support the Board and its Committees, Executive Directors, and senior stakeholders across the wider group. Your remit will span commercial contracts, corporate governance, regulatory matters, data protection, insurance, and compliance. Alongside your legal responsibilities, you will act as Company Secretary, overseeing statutory obligations, governance processes, Board administration, and committee support.
To be successful in this role, you will bring a blend of technical expertise, strategic insight, and strong personal credibility. You will have:
- Qualification as a Solicitor, and significant post-qualification experience in commercial law, ideally gained within financial services or another highly regulated sector
- Proven experience operating as Company Secretary, supporting Boards and Committees with governance, compliance, and best practice
- Strong working knowledge of data protection and GDPR, including hands-on implementation and risk management
- Experience overseeing insurance portfolios and supporting broader compliance functions
- The ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly and pragmatically to senior non-legal stakeholders
- High professional integrity and a genuine commitment to operating within a purpose-driven, people-focused environment
