The Data Migration Architect is responsible for defining and governing the safe migration of clinical data from the legacy DMICP estate into target systems such as TPP SystmOne and downstream consumers via HealthShare. This is a design-led role that sets the rules, frameworks, and standards for migration while engineers carry out the technical delivery. The architect ensures that all migrated data is accurate, clinically safe, auditable, and aligned to programme constraints.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Defining the end-to-end migration strategy, including scope, sequencing, and success criteria.
  • Determining which data is migrated, archived, or excluded, ensuring alignment with clinical safety and governance.
  • Validating findings from analysts (profiling, data quality, code-mapping impacts) and identifying migration risks.
  • Owning the Data Migration Architecture, including source, staging, and target data models.
  • Producing clear design artefacts: logical mappings, cleansing/validation rules, exception handling, and cutover patterns.
  • Providing architectural oversight to migration engineers.
