A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a major telecoms organisation at the heart of a UK-wide fibre transformation programme. This is a large-scale, high-impact initiative involving new technologies, mergers & acquisitions, and the modernisation of critical network infrastructure. This role offers the chance to work on complex, business-critical data challenges, helping shape a single source of truth across the organisation. Working within the Fixed Access Engineering Team, you'll use your existing deep understanding of data to identify underlying data challenges and uncover anomalies across complex systems. This role is focused on improving data quality and consistency across the programme. You'll be responsible for cleaning and improving complex datasets, carrying out deep-dive analysis, and integrating and tracking data across multiple systems. You will investigate anomalies, interrogate data and tools in detail, and work closely with engineering and network teams to ensure issues are understood and resolved. A key part of the role will involve feeding corrected data back into core systems and productionalising data processes to drive long-term improvements.

This is a highly collaborative position where you'll:

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive a data-led culture built on a single source of truth
  • Work with stakeholders to understand data challenges and anomalies
  • Use SQL and telecoms knowledge to identify data issues

  • Clean, improve, and validate complex datasets
  • Integrate and track data across systems
  • Develop and implement automated data cleansing approaches
  • Build and support data flows into central inventory systems
  • Communicate insights and influence data-driven decisions
  • Ensure data is reintegrated in a robust, traceable way

Essential Skills

  • Strong SQL (interrogating, merging, transforming data)
  • Experience investigating anomalies and data issues
  • Proven data cleansing experience
  • Ability to interrogate tools and complex datasets
  • Strong Excel (no VBA/macros required)
  • Good communication and stakeholder engagement
  • Strong understanding of data quality and data management best practices

Desirable:

  • Experience with BigQuery / GCP
  • Knowledge of Fixed Telecoms / Fibre network data
