Hays are working with a Secondary School in Crawley who are seeking a highly organised and experienced School Business Manager with a strong HR focus to join a school in Crawley for an immediate start.

This role is ideal for someone with a solid background in education HR, staff management, and compliance, who can confidently lead on people-related processes within a fast-paced school environment.

Key Requirements
  • Proven experience in a School Business Manager role or education-based HR position
  • Strong knowledge of HR processes within schools (recruitment, onboarding, contracts, staff records)
  • Experience handling employee relations, absence management, and performance processes
  • Up-to-date understanding of safeguarding and compliance in education
  • Ability to work closely with Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential)
Key Responsibilities (HR Focus)
  • Lead on all HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, and safer recruitment compliance
  • Maintain accurate and compliant staff records, contracts, and a single central record.
  • Advise SLT on HR policies, procedures, and employment matters
  • Manage absence, disciplinaries, grievances, and performance processes
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, KCSIE, and employment legislation
  • Support workforce planning and contribute to staff development initiatives
