An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and detail-focused Bookkeeper to join a well-established public sector organisation in Brislington on a six-month temporary contract.
Your new role:
- Maintaining the organisation's financial records and accounting systems
- Processing purchase ledger and sales ledger transactions
- Raising invoices and processing supplier payments
- Performing bank reconciliations and control account reconciliations
- Managing employee expense claims and credit card transactions
- Assisting with cash flow monitoring and financial reporting
- Supporting month-end and year-end finance processes
- Processing journals, accruals and prepayments
- Maintaining accurate VAT records and supporting VAT returns
- Assisting with audit preparation and responding to information requests
- Ensuring compliance with internal controls, financial regulations and public sector procedures
What you'll need to succeed:
- Previous experience in a Bookkeeper, Finance Officer, Accounts Assistant or Assistant Accountant role
- Strong double-entry bookkeeping knowledge
- Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
