I am seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work on a full-time basis within a specialist SEND resource base in a welcoming mainstream primary school located in South Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and resilient HLTA who is confident supporting pupils with complex additional needs and is committed to inclusive education.
The school is a supportive, inclusive primary setting with a well-established SEND resource base. It is well-resourced and benefits from a strong, approachable leadership team who prioritise pupil wellbeing and staff development. The SEND team works closely together to provide high-quality support tailored to individual pupil needs.
As an HLTA in the SEND resource base, you will:
- Support pupils with EHCPs and SEND (Autism, non-verbal)
- Deliver interventions and small-group learning
- Plan & resource
- Work closely with teachers, the SENCo and external professionals
- Promote pupil independence, engagement and positive behaviour
- Contribute to a calm, structured and nurturing learning environment
What you'll need to succeed:
- HLTA qualification, Level 4 or above
- Strong SEND experience, ideally within a resource base or specialist setting
- Experience supporting pupils with ASD, communication needs, SEMH, or similar
- Confidence delivering interventions and supporting learning across the curriculum
- A patient, proactive and flexible approach
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
