A well-established and values-driven charity based in Bath is seeking a Part-Time Accounts Assistant to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong transactional finance experience who is looking for flexibility and meaningful work within a supportive environment.
You will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting day-to-day finance operations, and contributing to continuous improvement across finance processes.
7 hours over 3 days or 5 hours over 4 days (20 hours total per week) | 2 days mandatory on-site
Key Responsibilities- Processing supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner
- Ensuring appropriate approval processes are followed
- Preparing and processing payment runs, including BACS
- Handling supplier queries effectively
- Raising invoices on a monthly and ad hoc basis
- Reconciling customer accounts
- Allocating incoming payments and resolving discrepancies
- Supporting regular bank reconciliations across multiple accounts
- Investigating and resolving reconciling differences
- Assisting with preparation of monthly management information
- Supporting finance colleagues with transactional and reporting tasks
- Responding to internal and external finance queries
- Identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes
- Supporting implementation of new finance procedures where appropriate
- Previous experience in a finance or bookkeeping role
- AAT qualified or studying towards (or equivalent experience)
- Strong Excel skills (including lookups and basic data analysis)
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships across teams
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Experience in the charity or not-for-profit sector
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks or similar)
- Experience working with multiple cost centres or budgets
- Flexible part-time working arrangements
