We're looking for a motivated and experienced Assistant Construction Buyer to join this busy and growing Construction Contractor. Based within their experienced Commercial team, this role plays a key part in supporting the delivery of construction projects by ensuring materials, equipment, and services are sourced efficiently and cost-effectively.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Ordering of construction materials, tools and equipment
  • Coordinating the ordering and delivery of construction materials to meet project timelines
  • Managing the hire and return of tools, machinery, and temporary infrastructure
  • Comparing supplier quotes and assisting with procurement decisions
  • Monitoring usage and availability of company-owned equipment across sites
  • Producing regular reports on procurement activity and plant utilisation
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of procurement schedules
  • Attending site and project meetings to provide updates on supply chain matters
  • Carrying out site visits to ensure procurement processes are being followed
  • Assisting with general procurement administration and ad-hoc tasks

You’ll have:

  • Knowledge & Understanding of Construction
  • Familiarity of Construction materials
  • Understanding of procurement, logistics and supply chain operations
  • Confident communicator with strong negotiation skills
  • Previous experience in a construction or project-based environment
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work well under pressure
