A leading legal and claims solutions provider is seeking a talented Solicitor Advocate or Barrister to join its growing in-house advocacy team. The firm works in partnership with major insurers, corporates and public sector organisations, handling high volumes of litigated claims and delivering innovative legal solutions.
As a Solicitor Advocate/Barrister, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality advocacy, drafting and advisory services across a broad caseload. You will operate with high levels of autonomy, supporting senior colleagues while also contributing to the wider development of the advocacy function. Retrain applications are welcomed and those with strong previous advocacy skills in areas such as criminal law are encouraged to apply. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced advocate to develop technical expertise, build a niche specialism, and take on mentoring and client-facing responsibilities.
Your new role As a Solicitor Advocate/Barrister, you will be responsible for:
- Undertake advocacy across a variety of hearings, including: interlocutory hearings, small claims and fast track trials, CCMCs and applications.
- Draft and settle pleadings, including complex and higher-value matters (e.g. fraud defences).
- Provide clear, practical legal advice across core practice areas.
- Assist senior advocates on more complex litigation matters.
- Support training delivery and share legal updates with internal teams.
- Mentor and support junior advocates.
- Contribute to the development of the in-house advocacy offering.
- Engage in client-facing work and assist with product development initiatives.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Barrister: Full practising certificate.
- Solicitor: Higher Rights of Audience (desirable), or demonstrable advocacy experience with a strong desire to obtain Higher Rights.
- 3-10 years' PQE or call.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: insurance fraud, personal injury (EL/PL), costs, large loss, professional negligence or criminal law.
- Proven advocacy experience (trial experience desirable).
- Ability to produce high-quality written work with minimal supervision.
- Strong technical and analytical skills with a proactive approach to development.
