Temporary Cash Reconciliations Assistant

Location: Thurrock, Essex

Contract: Temporary (3 Months)

Hours: 37.5 Hours Per Week

Salary: Up to £28,000 FTE (equivalent hourly rate)

Start Date: Immediate

An established e-commerce business based in Thurrock is seeking a detail-oriented Cash Reconciliations Assistant to join their finance team on a 3-month temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional with strong cash management and bank reconciliation skills to support a busy finance function.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for managing daily cash and banking activities, ensuring accurate reconciliations across multiple payment platforms and bank accounts. Key duties will include:

  • Retail cash management, including cash reporting, cash banking and store float management.
  • Assisting with Loomis cash collections and associated reconciliations.
  • Performing daily retail card payment reconciliations and payout checks via Shopify.
  • Performing daily e-commerce payment reconciliations and payout checks via Shopify.
  • Conducting daily banked cash checks across HSBC and NatWest accounts.
  • Completing month-end cash reconciliations.
  • Completing month-end reconciliations for payment platforms.
  • Reconciling bank statements against accounting records.
  • Investigating, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Supporting the wider finance team with cashbook and banking-related activities.
  • Producing accurate reports and maintaining strong financial controls.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Previous experience in a finance, treasury, cashier, banking or accounts assistant role.
  • Strong experience of cash management and bank reconciliations.
  • Experience using Shopify would be highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Business Central (Dynamics BC) is desirable.
  • Intermediate Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables and data analysis.
  • Strong understanding of payment platforms and banking processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
