A leading manufacturing organisation is looking to appoint an experienced Buyer to join its procurement team on an initial six-month contract, with the possibility of a permanent opportunity at the end of the assignment. This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional who enjoys building supplier relationships, working closely with stakeholders, and supporting operational delivery within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Your new role
Reporting into the procurement function, you'll support day-to-day purchasing and contract management activities across a range of indirect spend categories, including facilities management, utilities and office supplies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing supplier relationships and supporting contract activities
- Working closely with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements
- Advising on procurement approaches that deliver best value and support business objectives
- Attending supplier meetings and supporting ongoing performance management
- Raising and managing purchase orders through SAP
- Maintaining accurate procurement data and system records
- Expediting orders and liaising with suppliers to minimise supply issues that could impact operations
This is a hybrid position requiring three days per week on site in Wrexham.
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous procurement experience in a Buyer, Procurement Officer, Category Officer or similar role
- Experience managing suppliers and engaging with stakeholders at various levels
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Working knowledge of SAP
- Availability to start within the coming weeks
- Ability to commute to the Wrexham site three days per week
