Hays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Wigan area to recruit a compassionate, dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them to reach their full potential both academically and socially.

The successful candidate will support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language Needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Your New Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom. Working closely alongside the class teacher and SENCO, you will help deliver tailored learning activities, promote positive behaviour, and provide the emotional support pupils need to thrive.You may be required to work on a one-to-one basis or support small intervention groups, adapting your approach to meet the individual needs of each child. The successful candidate will demonstrate a compassionate and nurturing approach, building positive relationships that encourage confidence, independence and engagement in learning.

What You'll Need to Succeed

You should have:

• A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3 preferred)
• Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs within a school setting
• A good understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH and other additional learning needs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A compassionate, patient and nurturing nature, with a genuine desire to make a positive difference in children's lives
• The ability to build trusting and supportive relationships with pupils, staff and parents
• Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations
• Confidence in adapting learning activities to meet individual pupil needs
• A proactive, flexible and resilient approach to supporting learning and development
• A commitment to promoting inclusion, wellbeing and positive outcomes for all pupils
