An established environmental consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Arboricultural Consultant to strengthen its multidisciplinary team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced arboricultural professional looking to take greater ownership of complex projects, client relationships and technical delivery. You will work collaboratively with professionals across environmental and planning disciplines while playing an important role in the continued development of arboricultural services.
Your new role
As a Senior or Principal Arboricultural Consultant, you will combine strong technical expertise with responsibility for project delivery, client liaison and technical quality.
Depending on your level of experience, responsibilities will include:
- Leading and delivering arboricultural surveys, assessments and technical advice.
- Managing projects from initial instruction through to completion.
- Preparing and reviewing high-quality arboricultural reports, plans and technical documentation.
- Producing arboricultural constraints, impact and mitigation assessments.
- Managing project programmes, resources, budgets, quality and health & safety requirements.
- Providing pragmatic technical advice to clients, stakeholders and project teams.
- Collaborating with other environmental and planning professionals on multidisciplinary projects.
- Managing and developing client relationships.
- Supporting fee proposals, tenders and wider business development activities.
- Providing technical guidance, mentoring and constructive review to less experienced colleagues.
At Principal Consultant level, you will take greater responsibility for complex project delivery, senior client relationships, technical leadership and supporting the continued growth of the arboricultural service.
What you'll need to succeed
You should be able to demonstrate:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Arboriculture, Forestry or a related discipline.
- Significant professional experience within arboriculture, ideally within a consultancy environment.
- Strong knowledge of tree identification, physiology, inspection, assessment and management.
- Good working knowledge of relevant UK arboricultural legislation, standards and best-practice guidance.
- Proven experience producing and reviewing technical arboricultural reports and plans.
- Experience managing projects and communicating directly with clients and stakeholders.
- Strong project management, organisational and communication skills.
- Confidence in managing competing workloads and delivering high-quality work on agreed timescales.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
- Professional membership, or progression towards membership, of the Arboricultural Association and/or Institute of Chartered Foresters would be advantageous.
For an appointment at Principal level, you should also be able to demonstrate a stronger track record in technical leadership, complex project management, client development and supporting or mentoring other professionals.
