Materials & Logistics Controller
Telford | £13-£14 per hour | Temporary Ongoing | Full-Time (35 hours per week)
Hays are working with a well-established engineering business in Telford to recruit a Materials & Logistics Controller on a temporary ongoing basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual with stores, warehouse, logistics or supply chain experience to join a busy manufacturing environment. The role is initially anticipated to last three months, with the potential for extension.
The Role
As a Materials & Logistics Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of both the stores and logistics functions. You will be responsible for the receipt, storage and control of materials, whilst also supporting domestic and international shipments, imports and exports.
Key Responsibilities
- Receiving and booking stock into the Sage 200 Manufacturing system.
- Checking goods against purchase orders and supplier delivery notes.
- Managing stock levels, stock movements and replenishments.
- Kitting and marshalling components to support production requirements.
- Conducting stock takes and maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Ensuring the stores area is maintained to high housekeeping and health & safety standards.
- Packing goods ready for dispatch and coordinating collections and deliveries.
- Managing UK deliveries, including occasional overnight travel when required.
- Coordinating import and export shipments via air, sea and road freight.
- Producing and checking shipping documentation, including delivery notes, packing lists and commercial invoices.
- Liaising with customs agents and supporting import/export declarations.
- Tracking shipments and communicating with customers throughout the delivery process.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience within a warehouse, stores, logistics or supply chain environment.
- Knowledge of shipping and export documentation.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with suppliers, customers and internal teams.
- Experience using Sage 200 Manufacturing would be advantageous.
- A hands-on approach and willingness to support across a variety of logistics and stores activities.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday: 7:30am to 3:00pm 35 hours per week with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break
