You will join an established organisation operating within the food supply sector, supporting a busy purchasing function where effective stock control, supplier relationships and continuity of supply are central to customer service.
Your new role
As a Junior Buyer, you will manage the purchase and replenishment of goods, maintaining optimised stock levels to meet customer requirements while supporting company stock-turn targets. You will also build and maintain strong supplier relationships to help secure reliable and timely supply.
- Maintaining accurate inventory records and stock management systems in line with agreed standards.
- Monitoring in-stock levels to ensure compliance with established inventory parameters.
- Developing inventory control approaches that support lower cost of sales, shorter lead times and reduced stockholding.
- Contributing to supply-and-demand forecasting to improve continuity across the supply chain.
- Assessing supply chain risks and developing practical solutions to minimise potential losses.
- Placing purchase orders and monitoring delivery performance to ensure goods arrive on time.
- Establishing and maintaining effective supplier relationships to support efficient procurement.
- Working closely with sales colleagues to ensure required products are readily available.
- Monitoring purchasing activity against budget and escalating any potential overspend promptly.
- Following company quality, health and safety, and operating procedures at all times.
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience in stock control, inventory management, purchasing or a related supply chain environment.
- An understanding of stock levels, replenishment, lead times and supply-and-demand planning.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and systems.
- Confident communication skills and the ability to build productive relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
- A proactive approach to identifying supply risks, controlling costs and resolving issues.
- The ability to work effectively within established budgets, procedures and quality standards.
What you'll get in return
