Your new role
Reporting to the People Services Business Partner, you will deliver effective and commercially considered HR support to managers and employees across the organisation.
A key focus of the position will be managing a varied employee relations caseload, including both routine and complex matters.
Your key responsibilities will include
- Managing employee relations cases involving disciplinary matters, grievances, investigations, sickness absence, capability, performance and flexible working.
- Providing clear, practical advice to managers, identifying employment risks and recommending appropriate solutions.
- Coaching and supporting managers through performance management processes.
- Coordinating individual consultation processes, including restructures, redeployment, changes to terms and conditions, fixed-term contract endings
- Supporting the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures and management guidance.
- Providing advice on employment legislation, contractual terms, organisational policies and HR procedures.
- Producing and analysing people data, including absence information, to identify trends and support informed decision-making.
- Contributing to recruitment activity and working with colleagues to provide an efficient and effective recruitment service.
- Supporting organisational change, integration and harmonisation activity.
- Developing and delivering HR guidance and training to managers.
- Building credible and constructive relationships with managers and wider departmental teams.
- Championing employee wellbeing, equality, diversity and inclusion across all areas of the employee life cycle.
- What you'll need to succeed
You will be an experienced HR or People Advisor with a strong employee relations background and the confidence to manage cases from initial advice through to resolution.
To be successful, you will ideally demonstrate
- A minimum of two years' experience operating at HR Advisor or People Advisor level.
- Strong experience managing complex employee relations cases, including disciplinary, absence, capability and investigation matters.
- Experience supporting consultation processes involving organisational change, restructuring, redeployment, contractual changes or TUPE.
- Previous experience working with Trade Unions.
- Experience developing and implementing HR policies, procedures and guidance.
- The ability to deliver HR training, coaching or guidance to managers.
- Experience producing and analysing management information using HR or applicant tracking systems.
- Up-to-date knowledge of UK employment legislation and its practical application.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain advice and associated risks clearly.
- Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage competing demands in a busy environment.
- A good understanding of HR administration processes and how these can be improved.
