Principal Scientist - Flow cytometry in Slough

Your new company
You'll be joining a global biopharmaceutical organisation advancing precision medicine through translational research and biomarker innovation. You'll be part of an expanding Translational Research capability, supporting programmes from early research through clinical development while helping shape a growing scientific function.

Your new role
As a Principal Scientist, you will act as a subject matter expert in flow cytometry and translational biomarker science, supporting key research and clinical-stage programmes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and delivering fit-for-purpose translational assays and biomarker strategies, with flow cytometry as the primary platform technology
• Generating high-quality translational data to support clinical biomarker and quantitative pharmacology objectives
• Working across multiple therapeutic areas to understand disease biology, mechanisms of action, and translational research questions
• Acting as a scientific lead within cross-functional project teams, providing data interpretation and strategic guidance
• Managing external CRO relationships, including assay transfer, study delivery, and data generation activities
• Evaluating and implementing new technologies and analytical approaches to strengthen translational research capabilities

What you'll need to succeed
A successful candidate will combine deep flow cytometry expertise with experience supporting translational research and drug development programmes.You should have:

• A BSc or MSc (PhD is an advantage) in biochemistry, biology, life sciences or a related discipline - or equivalent experience
• Strong experience delivering translational biomarker data within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related research environments
• Expert knowledge of flow cytometry assay development, optimisation, and data analysis
• Hands-on knowledge of software such as FlowJo, FCS Express, FACSuite, BD Diva, or similar platforms
• Experience supporting biomarker strategies across preclinical and/or clinical development programmes, preferably in immunology but any disease area is acceptable
• Good communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and operate effectively in matrix environments
• The right to work in the UK without sponsorship (until at least November 2027 and preferably beyond)

The following would be an advantage, but aren't required:

• Immunology expertise or experience working within immune-mediated diseases
• Experience with immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunoassays, LC-MS, or mechanistic in vitro/in vivo models
• Experience mentoring scientists or providing technical leadership
• Knowledge of Human Tissue Act (HTA) requirements and working with human samples
