Hays Construction are working in partnership with an established and growing regional main contractor to recruit an Estimator or Senior Estimator for their South Yorkshire office. With a strong reputation across Yorkshire and the Midlands, our client delivers a diverse range of projects within the education, healthcare, commercial and industrial sectors, typically ranging in value up to £15m. Due to continued growth and a healthy pipeline of secured work, they are looking to strengthen their pre-construction team with an experienced estimating professional.

The Role

  • Working closely with the Pre-Construction and Commercial teams, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders across a variety of new build and refurbishment schemes.
  • Producing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions.
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
  • Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Identifying project risks and value engineering opportunities.
  • Attending tender review meetings and client presentations.
  • Supporting bid strategy and contributing to successful project wins.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with the supply chain.

About You

  • Previous experience in an Estimator or Senior Estimator role within construction.
  • Background working for a main contractor.
  • Experience pricing projects within commercial, healthcare, education or industrial sectors.
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software.
