A manufacturing business is looking to appoint a Transport Planner to join its busy logistics operation in North Manchester.
Working closely with warehouse teams, customer service functions and key transport partners, you'll play a vital role in ensuring products reach customers on time while maintaining excellent service levels across the supply chain.
Your new role
As Transport Planner, you will be responsible for coordinating daily transport activities and managing relationships with hauliers and warehouse teams.
Key duties will include:
Planning and booking collections and deliveries through SAP and transport management systems.
Coordinating with hauliers, warehouse teams and customer service to ensure efficient order fulfilment.
Monitoring deliveries, identifying delays and resolving transport issues before they impact customers.
Managing load failures, investigating root causes and arranging corrective actions.
Producing service level reports and supporting performance analysis.
Liaising with logistics providers including DHL and other third-party hauliers.
Managing pallet control, transport administration and invoice validation.
Maintaining accurate transport data and supporting stock count activities.
- What you'll need to succeed
- Previous experience as a Transport Planner, Transport Coordinator, Logistics Coordinator or similar role.
- Strong understanding of transport operations, delivery scheduling and haulier management.
- Experience investigating delivery failures and managing service-related issues.
- Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships and challenge suppliers when required.
- Experience using SAP, transport management systems or similar logistics software.
- Good Excel skills, including reporting, pivot tables and data analysis.
- A proactive and organised approach with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
