Hays Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Groundworker to join a leading organisation within the social housing sector, delivering repairs, maintenance and improvement works across occupied and void residential properties throughout the Midlands.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Groundworker looking for long-term work, with the successful candidate initially joining on a temporary basis with the opportunity to secure a permanent position following a successful period. The position involves a wide range of groundwork, drainage, paving and maintenance-related duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out groundwork repairs and maintenance works within social housing properties
  • Paving works including slabs and block paving
  • Concreting of paths, patios, steps and hard standings
  • Excavation and backfilling works in line with current regulations
  • Repairs and replacement of clay and UPVC drainage systems
  • Installation and repair of fencing, including concrete and timber posts, panels and close-board fencing
  • Brickwork, pointing and associated external repairs
  • Completing pre-start risk assessments and working in accordance with health and safety procedures
  • Using handheld technology to update job information and complete required documentation
  • Ensuring properties are left safe, secure and in good condition following completion of works

RequirementsTo be considered, you will ideally have (but not essential)

  • NVQ Level 2 in Groundworks or a relevant construction trade qualification.
  • Strong experience in paving, concreting, drainage and excavation works.
  • Experience installing fencing and carrying out external maintenance repairs.
  • Good understanding of site safety standards and excavation procedures.
  • Ability to read and work from construction drawings.
  • Full UK Manual Driving Licence.

Desirable:

  • Asbestos Awareness Certificate
  • Abrasive Wheels Training
  • CAT & Genny qualification
  • Plant operator licence (Mini Excavator and Dumper)
  • Experience carrying out additional trade skills including brickwork, rendering or lintel replacement
  • Previous social housing repairs and maintenance experience
