IT Business Analyst - Financial Services sector in Milton Keynes

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst with a strong Financial Services background to join a major regulatory change programme.This is fundamentally a hands-on Business Analyst role, requiring someone with excellent core BA skills across process mapping, requirements gathering, stakeholder workshops, business process analysis and requirements documentation.
Alongside these fundamentals, the successful candidate will work closely with IT, business, data and service teams to ensure technology changes are successfully delivered and transitioned into operational support.
Previous Financial Services experience is essential. We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked within automotive finance, consumer finance, lending, banking or another FCA-regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities

• Own and support key Business Analysis activities across a major FCA regulatory/redress programme.
• Gather, analyse, document and manage business, functional and non-functional requirements.
• Produce detailed As-Is and To-Be process maps, identifying gaps, dependencies and opportunities for improvement.
• Engage with SMEs and senior stakeholders to clarify requirements, resolve ambiguity and build consensus.
• Work across IT and business change workstreams, managing multiple activities simultaneously.
• Develop a detailed understanding of the overall solution design and identify potential risks or failure points.
• Work with SMEs, technology suppliers and Service Delivery teams to define appropriate mitigation, monitoring and operational workarounds.
• Support requirements and issues emerging through integration testing (INT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Support the management of change requests through established programme change control.
• Help design and document Early Life Support (ELS) and longer-term Scheme Run Support (SRS) operating models.
• Define processes, roles, responsibilities, transition criteria and ways of working to ensure successful transition into BAU.
• Liaise between business units, technology teams, data teams, external suppliers and support functions.
• Support issue triage, documentation, approvals and other BA activities where required.

Data & Technology
There is a significant data element to the programme, although this remains a Business Analyst rather than a Data Analyst role.You will need to be comfortable:

• Understanding data structures, data mapping and interfaces.
• Documenting how data moves between applications and business processes.
• Understanding system and application dependencies.
• Translating data-related business needs into clear, traceable requirements.
• Working with technical teams to understand how solutions and integrations support business and regulatory requirements.

Essential Experience

• Strong commercial experience as a Business Analyst, demonstrating solid BA fundamentals.
• Financial Services experience is essential, ideally within automotive finance, consumer finance, lending, banking or a comparable FCA-regulated environment.
• Excellent process mapping and process improvement experience, including As-Is and To-Be processes.
• Strong requirements elicitation, analysis and documentation skills.
• Ability to translate stakeholder needs into clear, prioritised and traceable requirements.
• Experience facilitating workshops and working with SMEs and senior stakeholders.
• Experience working across business, technology and operational/support teams.
• Good understanding of data structures, data mapping, interfaces and application/data flows.
• Experience supporting enterprise-level technology or business change through transition into service / BAU.
• Experience working with third-party technology, infrastructure or outsourcing partners.
• Experience working in Agile, Waterfall and/or Hybrid delivery environments.
• Strong analytical, communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
• Comfortable operating in complex programmes where requirements can be ambiguous or subject to change.

Highly Desirable

• Automotive finance experience.
• Experience supporting FCA regulatory change or remediation/redress programmes.
• Experience designing or implementing Early Life Support, service transition or BAU support models.
• Experience supporting UAT and integration testing, including issue triage.
• BCS/ISEB Business Analysis Diploma or equivalent professional qualification.
• Degree-level education or equivalent relevant commercial experience.
