Planner - Hospital Lifecycle ProgrammeTemp to Perm | Long Term Temp (2042)

Hays is working with a major facilities and construction partner to recruit a Planner for a long-term hospital lifecycle programme. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity offering plus car on the permanent package, with genuine scope for the role to grow as the successful person becomes established.

Your new roleYou will join the lifecycle team and take control of planning and programme coordination across an operational hospital environment. The lifecycle programme is valued at approximately £5 million to £8 million, alongside contracts worth around £8 million per year, with the wider contract running through to 2042.

• Develop, maintain and control integrated programmes across lifecycle, maintenance and construction packages.
• Coordinate programme inputs for Schedule 38, fire safety, passive fire, defects, capital works and operational activities.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, contractors and key stakeholders to keep programmes accurate and organised.
• Identify dependencies, critical paths, delays, risks and recovery actions.
• Maintain programme baselines, revisions and version control.
• Produce clear progress reports, programme updates and dashboards for operational and governance meetings.
• Help sequence works to minimise disruption within a live hospital setting.

Working patternThe role is site-based for five days when required. Once established, there is flexibility to work on a hybrid basis
What you'll need to succeed

• Strong planning and programme controls experience within construction, building services, facilities management or complex refurbishment projects.
• Hospital or PFI experience would be highly advantageous, but it is not essential.
• Applications are welcomed from Tier 1 or Tier 2 main contracting, M&E, lifecycle, maintenance or strong specialist subcontracting backgrounds.
• Confidence managing several workstreams and bringing structure to detailed programmes.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with project, operational and senior stakeholder groups.
• Experience using Asta MS Powerproject and Excel is preferred. Candidates with strong experience of another recognised planning system will also be considered.

Career progression or long term tempThis role offers clear development potential. As you gain an understanding of the contract and programme, there is scope to progress into a planning management position and, in time, potentially lead a team of four to five senior administrators.
