I am looking to recruit an Upper KS2 Teaching Assistant for a large, welcoming and inclusive primary school in South Manchester with a strong reputation for providing high-quality education and pastoral care.

Due to continued growth and development within our Upper Key Stage 2 phase, we are seeking an enthusiastic, committed and skilled Teaching Assistant to support pupils in Years 5 and 6.
The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the wider inclusion team to support teaching and learning across Upper Key Stage 2.
They will help pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally, ensuring all children are fully engaged and able to access the curriculum.
The role will involve supporting whole-class learning, delivering targeted intervention programmes, and providing additional support to pupils with SEND, EAL or other learning needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning and delivery of engaging learning activities across Years 5 and 6.
- Work with individuals and small groups to accelerate progress in reading, writing and mathematics.
- Deliver intervention programmes to support attainment and confidence.
- Provide effective support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Assist teachers with classroom preparation, organisation and resource management.
- Promote positive behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy.
- Support pupils in developing independence, resilience and positive learning habits.
- Contribute to the assessment and monitoring of pupil progress.
- Foster positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
- Assist with educational visits, enrichment activities and school events where required.
Person Specification
- Experience working with primary-aged children, ideally within Key Stage 2.
- Good understanding of the primary curriculum.
- GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
- Experience supporting small group learning and interventions.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3).
- Experience working with pupils with SEND.
- Experience supporting SATs preparation in Year 6.
- Knowledge of phonics, reading interventions and mastery approaches to mathematics.
- First Aid qualification.
