Nursery Teacher (Part-Time)

Location: South Manchester
Contract Type: Temporary, Part-Time (3 Days per Week Wednesday to Friday),
Pay Rate: Β£160 to Β£240 Per Day
Start Date: Wednesday 4th November 2026

My client is a large, welcoming and inclusive primary school in South Manchester with a strong reputation for providing high-quality education and pastoral support. The Early Years provision places children at the centre of everything they do, creating engaging learning experiences that nurture curiosity, confidence and independence.We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Nursery Teacher to join a dedicated Early Years team for three days per week. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher or an ambitious Early Career Teacher with a passion for Early Years education.
The Nursery Teacher will provide high-quality teaching and learning within the Nursery setting, ensuring all children make excellent progress academically, socially and emotionally. The successful candidate will contribute to creating a nurturing, stimulating and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver and evaluate engaging learning experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework.
  • Create a stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environment that promotes children's development and independence.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching that meets the needs of all learners.
  • Use assessment effectively to monitor progress and inform future planning.
  • Foster positive attitudes towards learning through play-based and child-centred approaches.
  • Support children's communication, language and social development.
  • Observe, assess and record children's learning and development accurately.
  • Monitor progress and identify children requiring additional support or challenge.
  • Contribute to learning journals and assessment procedures.
  • Work closely with parents and carers to share information about children's progress and achievements.
  • Promote an inclusive environment where every child feels valued and respected.
  • Support children with SEND, EAL and additional needs effectively.
  • Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Follow all school policies and statutory requirements relating to health, safety and welfare.
  • Work collaboratively with Nursery staff, teaching assistants and wider school colleagues.
  • Contribute to the planning and development of the EYFS curriculum.
  • Attend relevant staff meetings, training and professional development opportunities.
  • Support the wider life of the school, including events and parent engagement activities.

Person Specification:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience teaching within the Early Years Foundation Stage or during teacher training placements.
  • Strong understanding of the EYFS Framework and child development.
  • Excellent classroom organisation and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to create engaging and inclusive learning environments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience teaching in a Nursery setting.
  • Knowledge of supporting children with SEND and additional needs.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with parents and external agencies.
  • Evidence of leading or contributing to EYFS initiatives.
  • Forest School, speech and language, or Early Years intervention experience.
