Interim Head of People - leading brand London (Hybrid) | Competitive Day Rate Immediate start | 3 month + assignment
A leading brand is seeking an experienced Interim Head of People to join during a pivotal period of transformation, growth and organisational change.
This high-profile leadership role will act as the number two within the People function, partnering closely with Executive leaders to shape and deliver a people strategy that supports an evolving commercial agenda.
Joining during a period of change, the organisation is focused on embedding change, driving cultural integration and building the leadership capability, workforce strategy and organisational effectiveness required to support future growth.
This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the direction of a large, complex and highly visible business.
Working as a trusted adviser to senior leadership, you will provide strategic challenge and support across a diverse, matrix environment, enabling leaders to successfully navigate change while maintaining engagement, performance and organisational effectiveness.
You'll combine strategic people leadership with hands-on delivery, shaping and embedding people and culture initiatives that support business objectives while ensuring alignment with the wider organisational transformation agenda.
Operating in a fast-paced environment, you'll influence a broad range of stakeholders, collaborate across the wider People function and play a key role in creating scalable people solutions that drive long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop a team of People professionals, driving high performance and building future leadership capability.
- Partner Executive and senior leadership teams to deliver people strategies that enable business growth and transformation.
- Support the integration of acquired businesses, embedding new ways of working, enhancing organisational effectiveness and driving cultural alignment.
- Lead the people agenda across significant change and transformation programmes.
- Deliver workforce planning, talent and succession initiatives that strengthen organisational capability.
- Provide strategic guidance on complex employee relations, organisational design and leadership challenges.
- Build strong relationships across a matrix organisation, influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- Set clear objectives and priorities for the People Partnering team, ensuring resources and initiatives remain aligned to business goals.
- Collaborate with People leaders across the wider organisation to develop and implement enterprise-wide solutions and best practice.
- Champion leadership development, talent mobility and career progression across the People community.
About You
- Proven experience operating at Head of People or HR Director level within a large, complex commercial organisation.
- Strong track record of leading people teams and influencing senior stakeholders in a matrix environment.
- Demonstrable experience leading organisational change, transformation and post-acquisition integration programmes.
- Commercially minded with the ability to balance strategic thinking and operational delivery.
- Comfortable operating at pace and bringing resilience, pragmatism and credibility during periods of ambiguity and change.
- Skilled in organisational development, workforce planning, leadership coaching and cultural transformation.
- Retail, FMCG or similarly fast-paced sector experience would be advantageous.
- Ability to start a new role immediately and commitment to a 3 month plus duration working in a hybrid manner weekly from the London office
