Global Design Lead - Onboarding Experience and Compliance in London

The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced learning and onboarding designer to lead the evolution of Welcome to Hays, our global onboarding experience. This role will shape a modern, engaging and consistent journey that helps every new colleague quickly understand Hays, build confidence and capability, form meaningful connections and become effective in role.

You will work with regional learning teams, business leaders and specialist partners to create scalable global experiences, standards and resources that can be applied across markets while remaining locally relevant. You will bring together digital learning, practical tools, manager-led activity and moments of human connection into a coherent colleague journey.

You will also lead the design of global compliance learning, translating mandatory requirements into accessible, practical and engaging experiences and integrating them naturally within onboarding where appropriate.

What you will do

Shape a world-class onboarding experience

• Lead the design and continuous improvement of a modern global onboarding experience for new colleagues.
• Create a connected journey that supports a welcoming start, builds role readiness and helps colleagues navigate their early experience with Hays.
• Design engaging content and experiences that introduce our purpose, strategy, culture, valued behaviours and ways of working.
• Develop scalable digital learning, toolkits, manager guidance and practical resources that can be used across roles and markets.
• Work with regional learning teams to build on strong existing practices and balance global consistency with local relevance.
• Connect onboarding with the wider learning and colleague experience so development continues beyond the initial welcome.

Partner and influence globally

• Build trusted partnerships with regional learning teams, HR, Operations, Technology, business leaders and subject matter experts.
• Listen to new colleagues and managers, use their insight to identify opportunities and translate needs into practical solutions.
• Bring together different perspectives and create alignment across regions and functions.
• Manage external learning partners and content providers where required.

Design engaging compliance learning

• Work with Legal, Risk, Data Protection and Privacy, Technology and regional teams to maintain an effective global mandatory learning curriculum.
• Simplify complex regulatory and policy content into clear, engaging and relevant digital learning.
• Use formats such as scenario-based learning, microlearning, video, simulations and meaningful assessment.
• Ensure learning is accurate, current, accessible, inclusive and suitable for global audiences and local requirements.
• Support robust learning tracking, reporting and audit readiness.

Measure and improve

• Define success measures for onboarding and compliance learning.
• Use learner feedback, engagement, completion, assessment and relevant business data to improve the experience.
• Track consistency and effectiveness across regions and colleague groups.
• Demonstrate improvements in confidence, capability, connection, role readiness and compliance outcomes.

What you will bring

• Strong experience designing onboarding, employee experience, learning experience or capability solutions at scale.
• Expertise in digital and blended learning design and the ability to create coherent end-to-end learner journeys.
• Experience working across a large, complex, global or multi-regional organisation.
• A practical, learner-centred approach and the ability to simplify complex information.
• Excellent stakeholder management, collaboration and influencing skills.
• Experience creating digital learning, toolkits, manager-led activities and performance support.
• Confidence using data and insight to refine experiences and demonstrate impact.
• Knowledge of adult learning, behavioural science, accessibility and inclusive design.
• Compliance, risk or regulatory learning experience is useful but not essential.
• Curiosity, creativity, commercial awareness and a commitment to continuous improvement.
