South Liverpool | Full Academic Year | Immediate Start

Hays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming mainstream primary school in South Liverpool to recruit a dedicated and resilient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil within their specialist SEN base. This is a full-time role starting immediately and continuing for the entire academic year. The successful candidate will provide tailored support to a child with complex behavioural needs, helping them access learning, develop positive relationships and achieve their individual targets in a safe and structured environment.

The Role

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with complex special educational needs
  • Support emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies
  • Build a positive, trusting relationship with the child
  • Work closely with the SENCO, class teacher and wider support staff
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the child's individual needs
  • Promote independence, engagement and social development
  • Maintain accurate observations and communicate progress effectively

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND and challenging behaviour
  • Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, patient approach
  • Resilient, consistent and able to remain professional in challenging situations
  • Experience with SEMH, Autism, ADHD or behavioural interventions would be advantageous
  • A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning
