Your new company
We are supporting an NHS Trust in Norfolk with the recruitment of a Project Manager to join their Estates & Facilities Capital Team on a long-term contract basis.

Reporting to the Head of Capital and working within a team of three Project Managers, you will play a key role in delivering a diverse programme of improvement and infrastructure projects across an operational healthcare estate. This is a unique opportunity to manage projects that have a direct impact on patient experience, staff wellbeing and the future development of healthcare services.

Your new role
You will be responsible for managing allocated capital schemes from inception through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and in compliance with all relevant statutory, NHS and construction regulations.

Current projects include: Backlog Maintenance Programme (£3m+)Delivering a range of essential infrastructure and compliance projects including:

  • Lift replacements and upgrades
  • Fire door replacement programmes
  • Fire compartmentation improvements
  • Infrastructure enhancements
  • Distribution centre improvements
  • Statutory compliance works

Major Improvement Scheme (£5.5m) A complex and high-profile redevelopment of:

  • Accident & Emergency Department
  • Urgent Treatment Centre

This challenging live-site project will require strong stakeholder engagement, careful planning and excellent project governance to ensure minimal disruption to clinical services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of capital and backlog maintenance projects from feasibility through to completion.
  • Develop project briefs, feasibility studies, option appraisals and business cases.
  • Produce and manage project budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Act as Contract Administrator on allocated schemes.
  • Manage external consultants, contractors and specialist advisors.
  • Review and interrogate technical drawings, specifications and tender submissions.
  • Ensure projects comply with all statutory, NHS and health & safety requirements.
  • Work in accordance with CDM Regulations, Health Building Notes (HBNs), Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs) and NHS guidance.
  • Monitor programme delivery, project risks and contractual performance.
  • Communicate effectively with senior managers, clinical teams, contractors and Trust stakeholders.
  • Support the ongoing development and improvement of the Trust's estate when not engaged in active project delivery.

What you'll need to succeed
We are keen to speak with experienced Project Managers who can demonstrate:

  • Proven experience managing construction, estate, infrastructure or capital projects.
  • Experience delivering projects within a complex operational environment such as healthcare, public sector, higher education, local authority or large commercial estates.
  • Strong understanding of project governance, procurement and contract management.
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations, statutory compliance and health & safety legislation.
  • Experience managing budgets, programmes and contractor performance.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.

Desirable

  • NHS Estates experience.
  • Knowledge of Health Building Notes (HBNs) and Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs).
  • Experience acting as Contract Administrator.
  • Relevant project management qualification (PRINCE2, APM, PMP or equivalent).
  • Construction, building services, estates or engineering background.
