School Caretaker (Part-Time)Hastings, East Sussex | Temporary OpportunityHays Education are currently working with an infant school in the Hastings area that is looking to appoint a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to support the day-to-day operation of the school site.This is a part-time role that would suit someone with previous care-taking, site maintenance, facilities, estates, or premises experience who enjoys working independently and takes pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday
- 7am - 8am
- 4pm - 5pm
- 10 hours a week.
The Role:As School Caretaker, you will be responsible for opening and securing the school premises each day, ensuring the site remains safe, secure, and well-maintained for staff, students, and visitors.Key responsibilities include:
- Opening and locking the school buildings
- Carrying out routine health and safety checks
- Undertaking basic maintenance and minor repairs
- Monitoring the security of the school site
- Reporting any maintenance issues to the relevant teams
- Assisting with the setup of rooms and school events where required
- Maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of outdoor areas
The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will:
- Have previous care taking, premises, facilities, or maintenance experience
- Be reliable, trustworthy, and punctual
- Have good practical and problem-solving skills
- Be able to work independently and use their own initiative
- Have a good understanding of health and safety procedures
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
