The Opportunity
A leading engineering and project-based organisation is seeking an experienced Project Accountant to join its finance team in Glasgow.
This is a key role supporting major projects across their full life cycle, partnering closely with Project Managers, Cost Controllers and senior operational stakeholders to ensure robust financial control, accurate reporting and strong commercial decision-making.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in project accounting, forecasting, budgeting, profitability analysis and financial reporting while acting as the finance lead on a portfolio of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary finance contact for Project Managers and Cost Controllers.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of project financial information.
- Review project costs, revenues and accruals, supporting accurate financial reporting.
- Deliver detailed variance analysis and profitability reporting.
- Produce project forecasts, budgets and cash flow projections.
- Support pricing, tendering and project set-up activities.
- Manage client invoicing processes and financial documentation.
- Assist with month-end reporting and management accounts submissions.
- Lead project close-out activities, including final financial reviews.
- Support internal and external audit requirements.
- Drive continuous improvements in financial controls, reporting and processes.
About You We're looking for a qualified accountant with
- Previous experience within a project-based environment.
- Strong management, accounting and financial reporting skills.
- Experience of budgeting, forecasting and cash flow analysis.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
- Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial systems experience.
- Knowledge of Sage or IFS would be advantageous.
- Experience within engineering, energy, construction or industrial sectors would be beneficial.
