Consultant / Senior Arboriculture Consultant in Gateshead

An established environmental consultancy is looking to appoint an Arboricultural Consultant or Senior Arboricultural Consultant to strengthen its existing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an arboricultural professional looking to develop their technical and consultancy experience, with a level of responsibility tailored to your existing experience. You will work across a varied portfolio of projects while collaborating with professionals from other environmental and planning disciplines.
Your new role
As an Arboricultural Consultant, you will undertake surveys, assessments and reporting while providing practical arboricultural advice to clients and project teams. At Senior Consultant level, you will also take greater responsibility for project management, technical quality and client relationships.
Key responsibilities will include:

• Undertaking arboricultural surveys, assessments and site work.
• Preparing clear and technically accurate arboricultural reports and plans.
• Producing tree constraints, impact and mitigation information.
• Providing practical arboricultural advice to clients and project teams.
• Supporting projects from initial survey through to reporting and delivery.
• Liaising with clients, stakeholders and other environmental professionals.
• Using Microsoft Office and CAD/GIS software where required.
• Ensuring work is delivered in line with relevant UK legislation, standards and best-practice guidance.
• Managing your own workload and contributing to the successful delivery of projects.

For candidates joining at Senior Consultant level, responsibilities may also include:

• Leading and managing arboricultural projects from inception through to completion.
• Managing programmes, resources, budgets and technical quality.
• Acting as a senior technical contact for clients and colleagues.
• Reviewing technical work and supporting less experienced team members.
• Contributing to fee proposals and business development activities.

What you'll need to succeed
You should have:

• A degree or equivalent qualification in Arboriculture, Forestry or a related discipline.
• Professional experience within arboriculture, ideally in a consultancy environment.
• Good knowledge of tree identification, physiology, inspection and assessment techniques.
• An understanding of relevant UK arboricultural legislation, standards and best-practice guidance.
• Experience producing professional arboricultural reports and plans.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to manage your own workload and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
• A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
• Professional membership, or progress towards membership, of a relevant industry body would be advantageous.

For appointment at Senior Consultant level, you should also be able to demonstrate experience managing projects, providing technical advice and developing strong client relationships.
