Hays Education are working with a secondary school in Eastbourne to recruit a Design & Technology Technician to support the smooth running of a busy and successful DT department.This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, organised, and proactive individual who enjoys working in an educational environment and supporting students and teaching staff across a range of Design and Technology disciplines.The Role:As the Design and Technology Technician, you will play a key role in preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring workshop areas remain safe, organised and ready for lessons. Working closely with teaching staff, you will help create a productive learning environment where students can develop their practical skills confidently and safely.Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing tools, materials, and equipment for lessons.
- Supporting teachers with practical classroom activities and demonstrations.
- Maintaining workshops, machinery and specialist equipment.
- Monitoring stock levels and ordering materials when required
- Carrying out routine maintenance and safety checks
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Managing storage areas and keeping workspaces clean and organised.
- Assisting with displays, projects and departmental administration as required.
About you:The ideal candidate will:
- Have practical experience working with tools, machinery or workshop equipment.
- Be highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Understand health and safety within a workshop environment.
- Be confident working independently and as part of a team.
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Have experience within a school setting.
