Monday to Friday - 7:00am to 1:30pm (30-minute unpaid lunch break)
Hays Education are working in partnership with a large and well-regarded secondary school in the Eastbourne area to recruit a proactive and organised Cover Manager. The Role
As Cover Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the school by coordinating and managing staff cover arrangements. You will be responsible for responding to daily absences, organising internal and external cover, and ensuring classes remain appropriately staffed throughout the school day.
This position is available on an immediate start basis and will initially be offered on a temporary contract, with the potential to become a permanent appointment for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and coordinating daily cover arrangements for teaching and support staff.
- Maintaining accurate records of staff absences and cover allocations.
- Liaising with teaching staff, external supply agencies and senior leaders.
- Updating school systems and ensuring cover schedules are communicated effectively.
- Monitoring cover budgets where required.
- Supporting wider school administration functions as needed.
- Ensuring all safeguarding and compliance procedures are adhered to.
About You - The successful candidate will:
- Have previous experience in an administrative, scheduling or Cover Manager role.
- Be highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
- Be confident working under pressure and managing multiple priorities.
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Have excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Ideally, have experience working in a school or educational setting, although this is not essential.
