Based in Dunfermline, our client is recruiting for a Finance Assistant to join their team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative finance team within a business that continues to invest in both its people and systems. The organisation has recently undertaken significant investment in its workplace environment and is embarking on an exciting period of systems improvement and automation. As a result, this role offers genuine scope to develop your skills and gain exposure to a broad range of finance activities over time. The hours of work are 37.5 hours per week with flexibility over start and finish times, although the team tend to work 8am - 4pm. There is also the opportunity to bank overtime hours. The organisation offers hybrid working: 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. The offices have on-site parking and are easily accessible both by road and rail.

Your New Role

Reporting into the Finance Manager, you will join a supportive transactional finance function and play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the purchase-to-pay process.This is not a typical high-volume accounts payable position. The role involves working within a multi-entity and multi-currency environment, requiring a strong eye for detail and the ability to navigate more complex accounting processes and stakeholder relationships.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the shared finance mailbox
  • Handling queries
  • Processing supplier invoices and ensuring accurate matching and coding
  • Preparing supplier payment runs
  • Reconciling bank accounts
  • Ensuring transactions are accurately reflected within the system
  • Processing employee expenses a
  • Maintaining supplier records
  • Supporting month-end activities and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assisting with intercompany reconciliations across multiple entities
  • Supporting accounts receivable and credit control teams during periods of peak activity
  • Assisting with the continuous improvement of finance procedures, controls and systems

What You'll Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role, you will bring previous experience within a finance function and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and attention to detail are essential.You will ideally possess:

  • HND, degree or equivalent experience within Accounting and Finance
  • Previous experience working within a multi-entity and multi-currency environment
  • Experience using ERP systems such as Dynamics, SAP, Oracle or Navision
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • A resilient and proactive approach to work
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels
  • A naturally curious and investigative mindset with exceptional attention to detail
