Your new role

As Collections Team Leader, you will manage and develop a team of collections professionals responsible for recovering overdue payments and supporting customers through the arrears process.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Leading, coaching and motivating a collections team to achieve and exceed performance targets.
  • Monitoring team performance against KPIs, SLAs and debt recovery objectives.
  • Conducting regular quality assurance reviews of calls and correspondence to ensure compliance and service standards are maintained.
  • Managing escalated customer cases, complaints and complex debt recovery situations.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of effective collections strategies and process improvements.
  • Producing management information, analysing collections performance data and reporting trends to senior stakeholders.
  • Ensuring adherence to FCA regulations, vulnerable customer policies and internal compliance procedures.
  • Building strong relationships with both internal departments and external partners, including debt collection agencies and legal representatives.
  • What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have

  • Previous experience leading a collections, recoveries or credit control team.
  • Strong knowledge of arrears management, debt recovery processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience coaching, developing and performance-managing team members.
  • A track record of delivering KPI and service level targets within a collection's environment.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
  • Confidence handling escalated customer issues and negotiating positive outcomes.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret performance data and identify improvements.
  • Good Excel and reporting capabilities, including experience working with large datasets.
  • Previous experience within automotive finance, asset finance, leasing or consumer finance would be advantageous.
