Your new company
I am working with a well-established specialist manufacturing business, based in Colne. Due to an upcoming departure within the finance team and pending maternity leave, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Purchase Ledger Clerk to join the business on a 12 month initial fixed term contract. This is a varied finance role where purchase ledger will be your primary responsibility, whilst also supporting month-end accounting activities and payroll administration.
Your new role
In your new role as Purchase Ledger, you will take ownership of the purchase ledger function, processing approximately 250 invoices per month and ensuring supplier payments and reconciliations are completed accurately. Alongside your purchase ledger responsibilities, you will have exposure to wider finance duties, including journals, month-end reporting and supporting the payroll process for hourly paid employees. As the main point of contact for purchase ledger matters, you will handle invoice processing, supplier reconciliations and query resolution, whilst also supporting month-end activities, including journals and financial reporting. The role will additionally involve assisting with the payroll process for hourly paid employees and providing wider support to the finance function as required. The business operates SAP Business One, so previous ERP experience would be advantageous.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position, you will have proven purchase ledger experience gained within a busy finance environment and be confident managing a high-volume workload. You will possess strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and the ability to build positive relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers. Experience of month-end processes, reconciliations and ERP systems, ideally SAP Business One, would be beneficial, although a proactive attitude and willingness to learn are equally important.
What you'll get in return
In return, you will join a friendly and established finance team within a successful manufacturing business that can offer stability, variety and the opportunity to broaden your finance experience beyond a traditional purchase ledger position. The role offers a salary of Β£30,000, a 37.5-hour working week with hours of 8:00am to 4:45pm Monday to Thursday and an early finish of 12:30pm on Fridays. Additional benefits include 24 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, a Christmas shutdown period, free on-site parking and a supportive working environment.
