Teaching Assistant - Behaviour Specialist Preferred (low level behaviour)
Location: Greater Manchester
Start Date: October or November 2026
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only
Pay: Β£100 to Β£130 per day
Hays Education are working in partnership with an excellent Secondary School in Bury to recruit a Teaching Assistant for a role starting in October 2026 or November 2026.We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with a background in behaviour support, pastoral care, youth work, alternative provision, SEMH, or those who have experience working with students who require additional support to engage positively in school life.As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support students both in and out of the classroom. You will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour, supporting learning, and helping pupils overcome barriers to education.
Your new role
- Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour
- Promoting student engagement and participation in lessons
- Working alongside teachers to deliver targeted interventions
- Building positive relationships with students, staff and parents
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous experience working with young people in an educational, youth work, care, sports coaching, or mentoring setting
- Strong behaviour management skills
- A calm, resilient and proactive approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Hays
