You will be joining a multi-accredited and well-established contractor operating in the highways industry. This high-profile contractor has a strong reputation for delivering projects valued between £1m-£9m for National Highways and multiple local authorities and offers a strong pipeline of work as well as excellent opportunities for career progression and professional development. As part of their continued growth, they are actively seeking an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join their team.

This is a full-time permanent position based out of their Brentwood office with hybrid and flexible working.

Your new role
As an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of projects from contract award through to final account. Working alongside experienced commercial professionals, you'll play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered profitably while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and operational teams.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the commercial management of multiple infrastructure projects
  • Preparing and submitting applications for payment and valuations
  • Managing subcontractor procurement, payments and account administration
  • Supporting cost forecasting, budgeting and financial reporting
  • Identifying and managing project risks and opportunities
  • Assisting with the preparation and negotiation of variations and compensation events
  • Supporting contract administration and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations
  • Working closely with operational teams to monitor project performance and commercial outcomes
  • Contributing to final account negotiations and project close-out activities
  • Building strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful, you must bring:

  • Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying (or similar qualification) or experience equivalent
  • Knowledge of NEC forms of contract (ideally Options A, B and/or E)
  • Sound understanding of commercial processes and contract administration
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Full UK driving licence.
