The Role As the Barista /Shop Assistant, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the coffee shop, ensuring customers receive high-quality food, drinks and service in a welcoming environment. You will prepare a variety of hot and cold beverages, maintain stock levels, assist with food preparation and presentation, and help ensure the café remains clean, organised and inviting throughout the day. Key Responsibilities Barista Duties Prepare and serve high-quality coffees, teas and speciality drinks Operate commercial coffee machines confidently and efficiently Ensure consistency in drink preparation and presentation Recommend products and provide excellent customer service Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygieneShop & Customer Service Welcome customers in a friendly and professional manner Process transactions accurately using the till system Assist customers with product selections and enquiries Monitor and replenish food and retail displays Ensure the café remains clean, tidy and fully stocked throughout the dayStock & Inventory Management Monitor stock levels and identify replenishment requirements Receive and organise deliveries Rotate stock appropriately and minimise waste Conduct routine inventory checks Support ordering processes and stock control proceduresOperational Responsibilities Open and prepare the café each morning Ensure all food safety and health & safety standards are followed Maintain excellent presentation standards across the café Support the smooth running of daily operations Work collaboratively with the wider team and education settingWhat We're Looking For Essential Previous experience working in a coffee shop, café or similar hospitality environment Experience preparing a variety of coffee-based drinks using commercial equipment Excellent customer service skills Strong organisational skills and attention to detail Reliable, punctual and able to work independently Experience handling cash and card transactions Ability to manage stock and inventory responsibilitiesDesirable Food Hygiene Certificate Experience opening or closing a café Previous experience ordering stock and managing deliveries Experience working within a school, nursery or community-based environmentWhat's on Offer?
