Looking for a rewarding SEN Teaching Assistant job in Wolverhampton? Hays Education is recruiting for a full-time Teaching Assistant and a part-time Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist SEND Resource Base attached to a welcoming primary school in Wolverhampton. This is an exciting opportunity to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential.

SEN Teaching Assistant Job Description

As a Teaching Assistant within the Resource Base, you will support children with a range of additional needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
  • Sensory and communication needs

You will work closely with teachers, SEN professionals and families to provide tailored support that enables pupils to access learning, develop confidence and achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assisting children with Autism and additional learning needs
  • Delivering targeted interventions and learning activities
  • Supporting communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
  • Promoting positive behaviour and engagement in learning
  • Helping children develop independence and life skills
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
  • Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Support Worker
  • Experience supporting children with SEND, Autism, SEMH or communication needs
  • A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Patience, resilience and a positive approach
  • Knowledge of SEND within a primary school setting (desirable)

Available Positions

  • Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant - 5 days per week, Long-term opportunity, Potential for a permanent position
