Student Teaching Assistant. Job in St. Helens Education & Training Jobs

We are partnering to recruit skilled individuals passionate about working with children with Speech and Language needs.

This role is suitable for a Qualified Level 2 Teaching Assistant who has recently completed their course and seeks career progression.

We look for someone who can quickly build bonds and presents a warm, friendly persona.

The school promotes outdoor play and involves working with a small group of KS1 pupils with Speech and Language difficulties who are below expected levels.

Located in Carr Mill, St Helens, the school has access to local nature parks and outdoor facilities. The successful candidate will be subject to DfE vetting checks.

Start date: September 2025

Hours: 37.5 hours/week, term-time only

Contract: Fixed-term 12 months, subject to funding with potential extension

Your new role

The role involves supporting KS1 pupils with Speech and Language interventions, possibly including general classroom support. You may work outside the classroom and assist in assessing language development gaps. Monitoring behavior, ensuring pupil engagement, and providing resources tailored to attainment and SEN needs are essential. You will collaborate with the SENCo, Pastoral Team, and external agencies to deliver Speech and Language provisions.
