Hays Education is working in partnership with a highly respected specialist school in Rugby to recruit a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant for a long-term opportunity with the potential to become permanent. This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people with a wide range of additional needs, including Autism, communication and interaction needs, learning difficulties, sensory needs and complex behaviours. You will play a key role in helping pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally whilst supporting them to achieve their individual targets.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to progress their career within specialist education and take on additional responsibilities within the classroom.
The Role- Support teaching and learning across the school.
- Lead small group interventions and classroom activities.
- Deliver lessons and learning activities in the absence of the class teacher.
- Support pupils with a range of additional and complex needs.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists and wider support staff.
- Help implement individual learning and behaviour support plans.
- Promote pupil independence, confidence and engagement.
- Create a safe, positive and nurturing learning environment.
- HLTA qualification or substantial experience working at HLTA level.
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
- Confidence leading groups and delivering planned learning activities.
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
- Patience, resilience and a nurturing approach.
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
