We are working on behalf of an SEN school based in Worcestershire who are looking for a Teaching Assistant to carry out long-term cover. Please find details below:
The role would be to start in the autumn term and would be till December 2026 and possibly beyond. The role is Monday to Friday, 8.30 am - 3.30 pm, and would be on a term-time only temporary time sheet basis, with the teacher being paid to scale in line with their experience and qualifications.
You would support pupils aged 11-16 years who have been excluded or are at risk of being excluded from mainstream due to social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Some pupils also have other special needs, such as ASC and ADHD. The role will be supporting pupils in classes with learning, behaviour and emotional needs.
The school is open to anyone who has an interest in working with children with SEMH at any level and is also open to people who may not have a qualification but have the right skills. You need to have empathy and understanding for working with children with SEMH and, ideally, some experience of working with children from this type of background.
The school consists of a close-knit team who support each other, and they have strong leadership and are driven by giving their pupils the opportunity to thrive and turn their lives around. The school is well resourced and has a good atmosphere in line with the strong team ethos of the staff and tries to mirror a mainstream school as much as possible in their working practices.
Experience of Team Teach or similar de-escalation techniques is desirable but not essential.
