Primary SEN Teaching Assistant - Specialist Provisions & Resource Bases

Are you looking for a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant role where you can genuinely make a difference? Hays Education is working with a number of schools across the Black Country that have established specialist SEN provisions, primary resource bases and specialist hubs for children with additional needs. These are not traditional mainstream classroom Teaching Assistant roles. Instead, you will work within dedicated specialist environments supporting children who require a more bespoke approach to learning, communication and emotional regulation. Many pupils have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and require additional support to access education successfully.
The Pupils You Will Support
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- ADHD
- Communication and Interaction Needs
- Speech and Language Difficulties
- SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs)
- Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
- Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
- Sensory Processing Difficulties
- Challenging Behaviour
Many classes operate with high adult-to-pupil ratios, allowing staff to provide tailored support and interventions throughout the school day.
Your Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1, 2:1 or small group basis
- Helping pupils develop communication, social and life skills
- Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour strategies
- Delivering structured interventions under teacher guidance
- Working alongside teachers, SENDCOs, therapists and pastoral teams
- Assisting with sensory activities and personalised learning programmes
- Supporting pupils during breaktimes, lunch and transitions
- Providing personal care where required
