The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced and reliable Premises Manager to join a busy and welcoming school in Bermondsey. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on facilities professional looking for a long-term role within an educational environment. Working on a split-shift basis, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance, security, and operational running of the school site, ensuring that the premises remain safe, secure, and well-maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Opening and securing the school site each day.
- Carrying out routine site inspections and basic maintenance tasks.
- Coordinating repairs and liaising with external contractors.
- Managing health and safety compliance across the premises.
- Conducting regular safety checks and risk assessments.
- Ensuring the school grounds, buildings, and facilities are clean, safe, and operational.
- Supporting with emergency repairs and site-related issues.
- Monitoring site security, alarms, and access control systems.
- Assisting with room setups and site requirements for school events and activities.
- Maintaining accurate records relating to maintenance and compliance.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Premises Manager, Site Manager, Facilities Manager, Caretaker, or similar role, ideally within a school or educational setting.
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations and building maintenance.
- Practical maintenance and DIY skills.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
- A proactive and flexible approach to work.
Essential Requirements
- Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- Previous experience in a similar premises or facilities management role.
- Right to work in the UK.
