Job: Individual Needs Assistant - KS3 Location: East Sussex Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only Start Date: ASAP Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Hays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in the Newhaven/Lewes area to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Individual Needs Assistant (INA) to provide 1:1 support for a Year 8 pupil. This is an excellent opportunity for a patient, nurturing and resilient individual who is passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential both academically and socially. Your new role As an Individual Needs Assistant, you will work closely with a Year 8 student, providing tailored support throughout the school day. You will help the pupil access learning, develop confidence and independence, and overcome any barriers to success.You will collaborate with teachers, the SEND team and external professionals to implement strategies that meet the pupil's individual needs and support their progress. Responsibilities Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 8 pupil. Support the pupil's academic, social and emotional development. Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs. Encourage positive engagement and participation in lessons. Build a trusting and supportive relationship with the pupil. Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEND professionals and parents/carers where appropriate. Promote a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment. Support behaviour management strategies and wellbeing initiatives. What you'll need to succeed Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational setting. Understanding of SEND and the challenges some pupils may face in accessing education. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. A calm, patient and resilient approach. The ability to work effectively as part of a team. A genuine passion for supporting young people and making a positive difference.
