Contract type: Fixed term maternity cover until April 2027

Salary: £24,500 - £26,900 (actual salary for TTO hours)

Hours: Mon-Thurs 8.15am-4.30pm, Fri 8.15am-3.15pm

Your new role

Our pupils are exceptional. Are you? We have the opportunity to join our amazing team and cover a period of maternity leave. This exciting role will involve working with our fantastic pupils who have a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. The Careers Lead is responsible for the day to day implementation of the Careers Programme. The appointed person will ensure that all pupils, particularly those in Year 10 and 11, receive transition support, careers guidance and practical tools to succeed in Post16 education or employment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the whole-school Careers curriculum in accordance with the Gatsby Benchmarks and the Baker Clause.
  • Ensure the Careers Programme is clearly articulated on the school website and serves as the definitive guide for all stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary liaison for colleges, training providers, and local authority.
  • Maintain an accurate record of Expected Grades (updated in Autumn and reviewed in Spring) to facilitate admissions.
  • Coordinate professional Careers Interviews. Manage the diary and ensure notification letters are sent to parents and carers at least two weeks in advance.
  • Coordinate with local businesses to identify work experience opportunities and guest speaker events.
  • Perform a monthly audit of the School Careers Webpage. Ensure all links, local authority contact details, and statutory resources remain functional and relevant.

What We're Looking For:

  • A compassionate, organised, and proactive individual with experience in education, social care, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with families, professionals, and young people.
  • A commitment to inclusive practice and supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people in an educational/residential/social work or similar setting
  • Experience working with young people with additional needs, specifically SEMH and Autism
  • Experience working within the Careers sector (desirable)
  • GCSE in English and Maths (Grade C/4+)
  • Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance (desirable)
  • Full driving licence
