Your new role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant working through Hays, you'll support pupils who may present with challenging behaviour, low engagement, trauma related needs or barriers to learning. Your role may include:
- Providing 1:1 or small group support to help pupils regulate emotions and access learning
- Using deescalation and restorative strategies to promote positive behaviour
- Assisting teachers with tailored interventions and personalised learning plans
- Building trusting relationships that encourage confidence, independence and resilience
- Supporting pupils with additional needs such as ADHD, ASD or attachment difficulties
- Working collaboratively with pastoral teams, behaviour specialists and external agencies

What you'll need to succeed
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
- A calm, patient and resilient approach
- Confidence using positive behaviour strategies and deescalation techniques
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly
- A genuine commitment to helping pupils overcome barriers and achieve personal growth
- Relevant training (Team Teach or equivalent) is desirable but not essential
